Question: can i remove lowering armrest/cupholder in center of backsea

Hello. I need to install a car seat in the center of the back seat of my 04 VW Passat. There is a lowering armrest/cupholder in the center. How do I remove this? I can not put the car seat on the other sides in the back seat due to air bags. Thanks!
